Although news stories do not always advertise that the celebrity has endorsed the article, there are usually a couple of telltale signs. Are there numerous authentic photographs of the celebrity that were taken specifically for this article? Are the photographs professionally edited? Are there quotes directly from the celebrity within the article? These are usually good signs that the celebrity has endorsed or approved the article. There is a good chance that the urban news is trustworthy and accurate.

Does the information align with other news outlets?

A 2011 study by Harvard Business School concluded that signing a big name endorser increases a company?s sales by $10 million annually and spurs a 0.25% increase in stock returns. Does the story align with their current endorsements? Is there any reason that others would want to harm the companies endorsed?
