Three Ways to Design Better Custom Tees!

Cheap custom shirt printing

Although online design labs have made it easier than ever to custom design t-shirts, the creative process is still just as difficult. After all, how should you know what colors go together? Or where the logo should go? Or what fonts work well together?

Instead of letting such details paralyze you, here are a few tips to help you design custom t-shirts that everyone will love.

Colors.

There are a few things you should know about colors when you custom design shirts. First of all, neutral colors like black, white, and gray work well together or with any other color. Secondly, there are such things as complimentary colors. Red compliments green, blue to orange, and yellow to purple. Thirdly, you can choose a warm or a cool color scheme. Red, orange, and yellow are warm colors, and work well together, while green, blue, and purple are cool.

Logos.

There are two places you can put your logo or graphics when you design custom t-shirts: the front of the back. That sounds obvious, but it’s actually a bigger, aesthetic decision than you might think. Logos that go on the front of customized shirts are often more conservative. Logos that go on the back are often pretty huge, and can take up the entire space. However, people are less likely to notice custom shirt designs when they’re on the back. The third choice is that you can do both — design custom t-shirts with logos on the front and back.

Fonts.

There are two rules of thumb for fonts when you design custom t-shirts. First, keep it simple. It’s better to pick one font and stick with it. You can change up its size and choose a couple colors for it, but it’s usually best to just use one font. Secondly, there are serif fonts, and sans-serif fonts. Serif fonts are usually a little bit fancier, and are common with print media. San-serif fonts are more informal, and used frequently on websites. Facebook and Twitter use sans-serif fonts.

If you keep these points in mind when you design custom t-shirts, you’ll be sure to make apparel that everyone will love. If you have any questions about what to do when you design custom t-shirts, feel free to ask in the comments.
